Interactions between gE and other viral proteins and implications for vaccine development

author:Yaru Ning

gE is an envelope glycoprotein required for cell-to-cell spread of alphaherpesviruses, neurotransmission (anterograde and retrograde), and immune evasion. gE can also interact with other proteins of the virus and perform various functions during the viral life cycle. The gE gene is often the target gene for constructing gene-deleted attenuated marker vaccines. The related research content is titled "Alphaherpesvirus glycoprotein E: a review of its interactions with other proteins of the virus and its application in vaccinology", published in Frontiers in Microbiology, doi.org/10.3389/fmicb.2022.970545.
